Levels of German Language
German language levels are divided in the below categories based on CEFR standards. CEFR is short for the “Common European Framework of Reference”, which is a system used in Europe to make language learning and assessment easier.

A1 Basic - Starter Basic Alphabets, numerals, simple words and sentences used
in everyday communication. Self introduction, Formal and
informal greetings. Topics like friends, colleagues, hobbies, work place, city, clothes and fashion, health, vacation etc.
At the end of this level one can
comprehend what other people are
saying and respond in a simple sentence
A2 Elementary Learning frequently used expressions that are related to a wider
variety of topics of immediate importance. Topics like eating, after
school or work time, talking about media, films, expressing feelings, emotions, opinions, talking about profession, phone conversation, discussion of problems,talking about sport, living, lifestyle, entertainment etc.
At the end of this level one can learn
to communicate in routine situations,
exchanging familiar information, and also can describe their origin, education and other common attributes.
B1 Intermediate Talk about interest, areas of expertise, make plans and explain familiar topics, talk about past, describe their day and their dreams, understand the main idea of complex texts involving both abstract and concrete topics At the end of this level one can clearly understand the main points of a conversation when spoken in native German.
B2 Upper intermediate Learn to express yourself in detail and with a wide range of expressions, give your opinions on things and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different options, At the end of this level, one can easily discuss the topics within one's speciality and can carry fluent conversations with native speakers.
C1 Advanced - Expert Learn to use German effectively in your social, academic and professional life. You will also be able to express your thoughts eloquently and use different ways to link ideas together appropriately. At the end of this level, you will be able to understand a wide range of texts with demanding concepts and implied meanings.
C2 Mastery The last of the German language levels means that you can understand basically anything you read or hear. You will have the ability to summarize long texts and condense complex ideas in order to explain them to other people. At the end of this level, speakers express their thoughts in a very precise and nuanced manner no matter how complex these thoughts may be.
